Sheriff Bates

It's finally over! The Roswell Community Little Theatre play, "My Son is Crazy, But Promising", has completed six weekend performances. I was cast as Sheriff Bates, the crusty lawman of the small town of Tumbleweed, AZ. It was a great role with lots of laughs. It was a large cast --- 14 roles. It was a lot of work but lots of fun. I probably won't do another play until next year.

RCLT is celebrating 50 years of performances in Roswell. The building where we present our plays was given to us by the city in 1958. It had been the Arts & Crafts building on the old fairgrounds which RCLT converted to a theater.

A new building has been purchased but enough money has not been raised to do the renovations needed to start doing performances.

Animal Crackers

I'd be "Lion" if I said I didn't love Animal Crackers! I truly believe they're the universal alien treat --- great for snackin' and enjoyin'! Months and months ago I found a huge jar of animal crackers at Big Lots. But at Big Lots what you see one day you might never see again. So imagine my elation when on a recent visit to Sam's Club I found this huge four pound plastic jar filled with various animals. I thought it might be fun to try and figure out how many different animals there are. I just now grabbed a handful and can identify a camel, horse, rhino, cow, polar bear and something that resembles a zebra. How many can you find? Better get some before the aliens sneak off with all of them!

Humming Birds

I think the Alien influence has somehow hindered the arrival of the hummingbirds to Roswell. It's April 4th and I still haven't seen the first one. They're so much fun to watch. Last year I think I had at least seven or eight feeding on the three feeders I have for them to enjoy. Once they get used to you they'll feed right next to you while you're sitting on the porch. And talk about territorial! They'll sit quietly on a tree branch watching the feeder and as soon as another hummingbird flies up to get a drink --- ZOOM--- down it comes to chase it away. Around and around they go. So where are the little hummingbirds? Maybe the Alien's will release them soon.
